According to the 2026 national census, Rovenia has a population of 9,685,000. The country's [[w:Population density|population density]] is 130.8 inhabitants per square kilometer.

=== Ethnicity and languages ===
Ethnic Rovenians constitute 86.4% of the population. Recognized historical minority groups include Germans (5.2%), Croats and Serbs (4.1%), and Hungarians (2.3%).

The sole official language at the national level is Rovenian, a [[w:South Slavic languages|South Slavic language]] that incorporates substantial West Slavic and German lexical influences. German and recognized South Rovenian dialects hold co-official minority language status in designated municipalities in the north and south, respectively.

Historically a predominantly Roman Catholic country with a significant Orthodox minority along the southern frontier, modern Rovenia is culturally diverse and largely secular.

According to the 2026 census:
* 54.2% identified as [[w:Catholic Church|Roman Catholic]]
* 18.1% as [[w:Eastern Orthodox Church|Eastern Orthodox]] (primarily affiliated with the Rovenian Orthodox Eparchy)
* 4.3% as [[w:Protestantism|Protestant]] (mainly [[w:Lutheranism|Lutheran]] in northern municipalities)
* 2.1% as [[w:Islam|Muslim]]
* 18.3% declared no religious affiliation or chose not to answer.
