The curriculum blends a common academic core with art-specific subjects over five years, structured in a two-year ''primo biennio'', a two-year ''secondo biennio'', and a final (fifth) year.

In the ''primo biennio'' (34 hours per week), a common area of humanistic and scientific subjects (21 hours) is paired with a characterizing artistic area (13 hours) in which students sample the specific subjects of all the tracks offered in the later years.
