The Istituto di Istruzione Superiore "Corridoni–Campana" is a state upper secondary school in Osimo, in the Province of Ancona, Marche, Italy. It was formed in the 2000/2001 school year through the merger of two long-established local schools — the technical institute "Filippo Corridoni" and the "Federico e Muzio Campana" lyceum — and has since grown into the largest secondary school in the Province of Ancona. It operates under the Italian Ministry of Education with the code ANIS00900Q.

The institute is spread across two campuses: the "Corridoni" site on Via Molino Mensa and the "Campana" site on Via Aldo Moro.

History

[edit]

Campana

[edit]

The classical lyceum (liceo classico) is the older strand, with origins in the 18th century in a college-boarding school (collegio-convitto) established under the bequest of the Osimo noblemen Federico and Muzio Campana. It was recognized as equivalent to other state institutes in 1878, became "Regio" (royal) in 1914, and in 1923 took the definitive name "Regio Liceo-Ginnasio Federico e Muzio Campana".

A scientific lyceum (liceo scientifico) was created in 1968 as a detached section of the "Savoia" scientific lyceum in Ancona, passing in 1972 under the "Galilei" lyceum of Ancona. It became autonomous in 1980 under the name "Ettore Majorana", when the present building on Via Aldo Moro was constructed. In 1990 the classical lyceum became a section of the scientific lyceum, and the combined entity took the name "Federico e Muzio Campana"; in 1997 the classical lyceum left its historic seat in Piazza Sant'Agostino for the Via Aldo Moro building.

Corridoni

[edit]

The technical institute "Filippo Corridoni" — named after the revolutionary syndicalist from the Marche — was formally established by a Royal Decree-Law of 1938, which created a higher commercial course in Osimo, originally housed on Via Pompeiana alongside a vocational training school. With the Bottai reform of 1941 the commercial technical institute took on a distinct form that remained largely unchanged for decades. A surveying (geometri) course was added in 1971, and the present Via Molino Mensa building has been in use since 1991.

Merger

[edit]

The two schools merged in the 2000/2001 school year to form the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore "Corridoni–Campana". In the following years the institute grew steadily, becoming the largest in the Province of Ancona, with both campuses expanded.
